Tony Huang Qiu
Vice President, GM – Discovery Greater China & Korea
Tony Qiu currently takes the role of vice president in Discovery and general manager – Greater China and Korea, responsible for Discovery’s media, digital, licensing and other businesses across the region. With Qiu’s international business management experience and insight of the local markets, he has innovated business models in advertisement sales, content production, location based entertainment (LBE) and digital ventures in the region for Discovery, leading to continuous double digital business growth.
Qiu’s professional experience spans over public sector, media & entertainment and internet industry in Australia and Asia. Prior to joining Discovery, he worked in JD.Com, an Ecommerce company in China. Qiu spearheaded JD’s cross-border Ecommerce business unit “JD Worldwide” as general manager and successfully built the business from the ground up to nation’s second largest player. In Qiu’s earlier career, he served Australian Government as a project manager for major infrastructure projects.
Qiu gained his MBA degree from MIT Sloan School of Management in the United States and Bachelor degree in Engineering from the University of Melbourne, Australia. He speaks fluent English, Mandarin, Cantonese and Hakka.
