Ahmad Izham Omar
Chief Executive Officer, Primeworks Studios (Malaysia)
Ahmad Izham Omar was appointed chief executive officer of Primeworks Studios (PWS) in December 2015. In the past four years, he has significantly expanded the company’s footprint with, among other initiatives, more co-productions with regional partners, a relationship with Netflix, a more active role online, and a move into content targeting the Islamic world. There’s also a more flexible approach to movie-making alliances, such as the partnership behind mixed-martial arts movie “Sangkar”, a venture with Astro Shaw, mm2 Entertainment and Infinitus Productions, releases theatrically at the end of August.
Prior to his appointment as head of Primeworks Studios, Omar held dual role as chief executive officer of Media Prima Television Networks and the chief executive officer of PWS since 2011.
A multi award-winning music producer, arranger, songwriter and musician, Omar’s musical career started with legendary Positive Tone record label in 1994, producing progressive music that captured the imagination of Malaysia. His other feats include launching a video portal called Tonton, being awarded the Most Promising Entrepreneur Award by Enterprise Asia, being accepted as a delegate in the prestigous Asia Society 21 Young Leader’s Summit, and recognised with a Lifetime Achievement Award by VIMA (Voice of Independent Music Awards) for his contribution to music.
