Monty Ghai is the founder and CEO of Brandwith, a next generation media distribution, advertising and marketing company for the Asia Pacific region. Brands represented by the company include, CuriosityStream, Reuters TV, People TV, Sports Illustrated TV and OSN.
Monty is also leading work on two additional ventures.
With over two decades of experience in the media industry prior to launching Brandwith, Monty was the SVP and General manager of BBC Worldwide (now BBC Studios) for South East Asia. He managed the P&L for the region, and spearheaded the launch of BBC earth, BBC First SVOD, and the BBC Player. He joined the company when the channel business was in its infancy, taking charge of business development for Asia Pacific, and subsequently launching BBC’s suite of non-news channels, the first for the corporation’s wholly owned business worldwide.
Prior to that, Monty has had various management roles at Viacom International, CNBC Asia, and ran Time Warner’s (now WarnerMedia’s) Global Marketing Solutions team for Asia Pacific. He also led Turner’s advertising sales teams for North Asia, India and Australia. Before coming to Asia, he was at a AMS, a marketing firm in New York, and got his start in Radio and Television in the US.
The new linear world is emerging as a streamlined environment with clear genre propositions, an effort to drive up value, an element of on-demand/playlists, a revised partnership manual, and an expanded set of content brands. This session looks at the adjusted reality, including the opportunities opening up for indie services, the challenges facing new players, a new balance between cost and value, and other issues standing between the now and the future.
