President and General Manager – Discovery Kids; Senior Vice President and General Manager – Northeast Asia, Discovery Networks Asia Pacific
Jay Trinidad has been Senior Vice President and General Manager of Northeast Asia at Discovery Networks Asia Pacific since July 2016. In this role, Jay leads the strategic direction, growth and management of Discovery’s businesses in Japan and Korea and is responsible for redefining Discovery’s product suite to deliver compelling brand experiences to new audiences, and expanding the business and brands beyond pay-TV platforms towards a true convergent media company.
In September 2017, Jay took on an additional leadership role within the organisation as the President and General Manager for Discovery Kids. As the global leader of Discovery Kids, Jay is responsible for the development of a digital-first, kids service that promises an enriching watch-play-learn experience delivered in a safe and trusted environment.
Jay’s expertise and experience with digital businesses began at Google where he rose through the ranks over a 10-year period to eventually become the Head of Consumer Marketing and Operations for Asia. While he was there, he lent his expertise to many popular Google products such as Chrome, Gmail, Search, AdWords, and YouTube. Jay also previously held senior executive roles in Gengo, an online people-powered translation platform, and mobile payment gateway Square, Inc.
Jay joined Discovery from McDonald’s Japan where as Vice President of Digital, he steered the company’s strategy and customer experiences through digital innovation.
Filipino by birth and raised in Hawaii, Jay has lived in over 10 cities across Asia. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Stanford University, where he specialized in International studies.
